XP Home vs. XP Pro

I might be needing to install one of the above for support purposes... up til now, I frankly haven't given a da*n and so haven't been keeping score on the issue, but...

Is there something in the Pro version to make it worth the extra $100 for general use? Obviously there were big differences between something like Win98 and Win 2000 Pro but after a quick perusal of the MS site it seems like a very fine line between XP Home Edition and Pro...

Only reason I use PRO is multiprocessor support.. Otherwise Home is great and you can't really tell the difference for normal use...

Also, I think home can't be used to join a domain.

John,

Not much for the average user really. If you are setting up a stand alone machine save your money and install home. If you are on a network and want to be able to remotely update through your server etc. spend the money for pro and save yourself some time.

Home version also lacks the server components I believe (IIS et al.).

He. I've just got XP home for Christmas and it's great. Check out the microsoft site and see exactly what you need windows for, then look @ the specs!
