fleet upkeep

how do you change this more specificly

okey what i would really love is to see fleet upkeep adjust to the army size i got. i see it as a problem to stand with a 10 supply army and have to pay upkeep for a 400 supply army :/

so is there any way to althor it so it adjust the upkeep to the active fleet size? and is there a way to implement that it will take more upkeep per cruiser+ cap ship? to indurse you to use much smaller ships instead of massing bigger once.

like *2 supply upkeep cost on cap ships and *1,3-1,5 on cruiser size ships.

(if some one could tell me how to manipulate with these numbers it would be greatly appriciated; i know you can remove the upkeep entirely, but what i am seeking is a way for the upkeep to adjust depending on your actual fleet size and depending on the type of vessels in it.)

best regards

me

Nope, upkeep is a static amount determined by research. You can set it to whatever you want with research, but you can't do any checks on the game state to determine it. Sins would needed scripting support for that, which it does not have.

darn, and its not possible to get pass that in some way which is known? program around it maybe?

love the game its simply just amazingly made :D only thing that struck me as annoying is how i have to wait forever to upgrade my fleet and if i do it fast its totally cripling me early :/ it just feels very annoying, and removing upkeep would end in a total zerg rush which is even worse -_-

this feature is the one thing that i would REALLY love to see added ^^.

You can eliminate it completely, but you can't have it change dynamically throughout the game. It can only change in response to new research. What has been suggest it is to have individual ships have abilities which deplete resources slowly, so each individual ship has an upkeep sort of like Total War, but that won't be a percentage and the AI probably won't have any clue of how to deal with that.

I personally like it because I think its a lot harsher penalties than most games have, which means when and by how much to increase your fleet size in the most important strategic decision you make. Its supposed to represent things like logistics and military infrastructure/administration, not the cost of actually supplying the ships, so it remains even after the ships are destroyed.

Abilities like Drain Planet and the old worthy cause can be used to gain resources/credits via abilities. I would first try using very small negative numbers on passive abilities.

One thing to note is that it will be much harder to see just how many resources are actually being used up by these abilities. You may have to use the after game statistics to get good data for balancing.
