A random question: say the factions represented corporations (at least for the TEC), what could the population represent, as last time I checked, corporations don't collect taxes, but rather gain profits from sells? I'm thinking customers.
Sometimes corporations do raise taxes, look at the British East India Company. But actually the TEC is a government not a company, its just the primary economic activity of their planets are trade.
I know the TEC is an emergency government, but, let's just say, hypothetically, that the factions represented corporations.
But they're not... this isn't eve... [e digicons][/e] What is there to think about if they were?
