Fence area not showing properly - Fences Pro (Win 7/64)

In the middle of a session the other day, I switched to the desktop and one half of a column of eight or nine icons that are part of a Fence had disappeared.  After playing around a bit, I discovered that it had turned from one column into two columns side by side, although the Fence appearance itself had not changed; i.e., as a single column it was still tall enough to handle all (actually, there's one new one added since then).  Some reboots later, I still haven't figured out a way to get it back to everything showing in one column.  The first image below shows the long single column with the space for the missing icons on the bottom.  The second image shows where the others have gone.  Any ideas about how to fix this.

You should be able to drag the icons from the lower fence into the upper one and delete the lower one. so you can see all the icons just drag the bottom of the fence to make it longer.

I would reboot then go and try what you did before and see if they remain there as they should. After you drag them they will go side by side so you may also want a fence with two rows of icons.

What size are you icons?  They look like you changed them.

Hold the control key down and roll your mouse wheel back and forth . . see if that fixes it.

I remember the first time I did this by accident, but didn't realize what had happened.  Panic, frustration, crying, fetal position...  Wasn't pretty.

But the icons at 256x256 were lovely, right?

This was back in the day, so I think they were all 32x32 images.  *shudder*

I'm having the same issue using the free version of fences on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. It seems to have started following a reboot after applying some Windows updates today. Also, immediately after that same reboot, the computer's Display setting had changed from 100% to 125%. (Right-click on desktop > Personalize > See also: Display) I've never had that happen after applying Windows updates, i.e. the Display setting has never gotten changed from 100%, which is the default. But even after setting the Display setting back to 100% and playing with the size of my desktop icons, the problem with Fences persists.

Bottom-line description of the problem: I can no longer create a vertical fence that is wide enough (and tall enough) for just one column of icons and have all of the icons wrap to just that single column. The most they will go is two columns, and when you make the fence narrower than that, the second column of icons gets hidden, even though the fence is plenty tall enough for the icons in the second column to wrap over to the visible area of the first column.

From the very beginning, I have always had single-column vertical fences on my desktop, and this has never been a problem until today.

I just intsalled the free Fences from Cnet to my Win7/64 test box and cannot replicate what you are seeing.

How does your experieance compare to mine?

Zubaz, looks like you had it right to begin with: Desktop icon size is a factor. Earlier I had tried changing the size of my icons by clicking on the desktop, then holding down the Ctl key and rolling the mouse wheel and found that didn't help. But when I tried working with the icon size again just now, I hit upon a size that fixes the problem.

So in my case, and per my previous post, I  have to conclude that the Windows upates I applied this morning not only messed with my computer's Display size, but also its desktop icon size, and the icon size is what caused the issue with Fences.

In any case, I have resolved the problem now, and thanks for your help. Hope this also works for Genegold.

it does the same with Icons on the desktop to

but if you make them bigger it also does Fences to

which Might be do to fences is tied to the desktop?

or just a setting I have in fences that makes it tied to the desktop but I don't think so

as for if you right click desktop then view and click show Desktop Icon it show Fences too

as for if you uncheck it hides both

Zubaz is a GENIUS! - You are teaching an old dog new tricks.

Maybe I spoke too soon. No, Zubaz is still a genius. But I have been having very odd issues with Fences lately.

1) Scrollbars don't fade away when I mouse off the fence area. This behavior seems to be related to making the fence area border visible.
2) Icons are being hidden. This is where the changing sizes of the icons helped before, but now I see that it is back again without my changing the sizes of the icons (CTRL+scroll wheel). I have a fence that is 1x4 (1 wide by 4 tall) and for some reason half of my icons hide themselves by rearranging as if the fence is 2 icons wide.
3) Every time I reboot Fences reports the the Portal view is not available in "Classic" mode and I need to be in "Aero". However, I haven't changed back to classic EVER. I am using WindowBlinds on this Win7 PC now (I hadn't used it before, and I like the look). Does WindowBlinds interfere with Fences?

Has anyone else had these issues? Is it a problem with WB and Fences not playing nice, or is there something else going on?

WOW!!! Now it is MUCH WORSE - I have just tried to reapply the WB theme, and my Portal Fences are just flashing and I can't get to any of my other fences. This is NOT GOOD. What is going on here?
