I'm soooooooo confused :|

I really need some help. I'm trying to turn an object into a drop down (pop-up?) menu tray that i can put objects on. when i try to do it, it says that there are objects without a starter. Also, the tray i want to use doesn't hide in the object that i want to use as a starter. Can someone please tell me how to do this? pretty, pretty, please.

You could check a couple of things:
First, in the objects properties, in the "Relation" section, where it says POP-UP,at the bottom, make sure it says "Menu (closed on any action)".
Secondly, in the section called "Summary", make sure your object has an individual "Object ID".
If you are still having trouble, try downloading a theme that has drop down menus, and check the settings in their properties. ( two of my themes have drop down menus, "Notes" and "Boxed") Hope this helps.
