[0.85] Mites hit harder than they should be able to

I met a mite mob that had 3 attack, 0.5 each for 5 unit members. The unit hit me for 5 damage, against a defender with 4 defense. They should not be able to hit that hard against that target. Some rounding error somewhere?

edit: they always hit for at least 1 damage per unit member.

This is intentional. You can never reduce damage to zero without a dodge. There should probably be a better display of the inflicted damage of opponents as well as a better description of how defense actually works, but that's pretty minor. Unfortunately without the information it's difficult to say if it is working as intended.

As it stands defense seems a little too random.

It makes no sense of being able to have 0.5 attack per unit if minimum damage is 1 per unit. Can't be intentional.

Clearly, it is not intentional. If it was intentional it would say that they hit for 1 damage per mite. Not less. It makes no sense for a unit with 3 attack to go up to a unit with 4 defense and attack for 5 damage.

The display is wrong, not the effect. They should have their damage listed as 5 or more appropriately 1x5 (avg 5). This is the way unit combat has worked for a while.. You could have 1 billion defense and still take 5 damage.

Looking at it another way, this unit type would have no threat rating, as they would nearly always inflict zero to even lightly armored units. Whether or not this is a balanced mechanic is up for debate, but the design was purposeful.

Anyways ... Mites should just give more EXP from the get go.

(I feel like there isn't enough exp flowing in the world ... even when I kill an AI sovereign its only a measly 5 exp most of the time.)-> early game

Yeah. XP gain was a bit too nerfed in .85. .86's release notes seem to do something with that, so hopefully that will help. We've gone from over powered champions to ones that are killed by mites!
