Sad News: Ben Gazarra Dies at 81

Really sad news... Ben Gazarra, a really fine, risk taking actor has succomed to pancreatic cancer. He was 81.

He acted in many of John Cassavete's works, and in TV ("Run For Your Life"). He did a great deal of Broadway but was kind of leery of films early in his career.

He did act in "Anatomy of a Murder", "The Summer of Sam" and "The Spanish Prisoner". He was excellent in "An Early Frost" where he acted the role of the father of a young man ill and dying of AIDS.

His health had been shakey. He had oral cancer (1999) and had recurrent bouts of Depression over many years.

At any rate, thanks for the great film and Broadway acting.... and for "Run For Your Life". You did well, Mr. Gazarra. Very well. You've earned your rest.
