POSSIBLE? Transparent Taskbar with NON-TRANSPARENT icons

Is it possible to create a transparent taskbar with NON-TRANSPARENT icons? This would be a VERY nice feature if it can be implemented correctly

I think it IS possible in Desktop X. If the taskbar image was entirely 255 0 255 (magic pink), then you could place it anywhere, invisibly, and the icons would float on top of it. Shouldn't be too hard to do. I used a similar effect in my "Notes" DX theme to re-create the wharf from Litestep.

yup. It's possible with NextSTART : http://www.winstep.net/ if you look through some of the recent submissions in the Nextstart section, you should see it...

actually, just checked myself, and there's no good examples so I've put an annotated screenshot up - http://www.moppy.co.uk/transtray.jpg - which shows the kinda things nextstart can do.

I even went to the bother of changing my screen res and including a deliberate (ahem) spelling mistake on it.
