Tyrany network CPU manager

A while back I was reading a computer arts magazine and there was mention about a piece of software called tyrany. This software was designed to split heavy tasks over many cpu's on a network. So if you where compiling a program or rendering animation you could use all the processing power of an entire network to process the task being performed. This is similiar to the Bryce Lightening Network rendering engine but not limited to the task or application. Needless to say I lost track of the magazine and even which one it was before I could find out more information.

Does anyone know of this software or of any software that allows the processor power of a network to be used together?

Wow I am stunned that no one has heard of anything along those lines. There are some extremely talented programmers and software engineers here. Maybe this is an idea for a new app, and even something skinable.

The creation of an app, that has a client and a server side that will split the processing needs of applications over the idle sections of the other CPU's on a network.

sorry Mobius, i no longer have that issue either. my searching yesterday and today found what amounts to a bunch of wishful thinking, mainly on the part of scientists. 'Within the next two years we hope to...'.
i know less than nothing about coding, but this does sound difficult to implement without a specific application target.
duh, i dunno
