Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity, given a faulty product code

I purchased Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity, and installed it via impulse. When I went to play the game, I registered for a stardock account, and entered my product code shown through impulse. However it says that it is already registered to another account. Why would I be given a product key already being used? This is frustrating to pay good money and receive a product that does not work. I'm not sure whom I should be getting a hold of so I've also posted on Impulse's forum.

Even though Stardock staff roam these halls, the forums are considered 'unofficial'.  There's a lot that can be covered here, and our community is extremely good at helping with a lot of technical issues, but email is the only official support route.
