Which is YOUR "most valued program"?
Is there one particular app that you can't live without in your daily skinning life?
Mine is "ACDSee", my image viewer, I can't imagine life without it!

Well, for my regular workday, I'd have to say HomeSite, but as far as skinning goes it has to be Photoshop, without it I'd surely lose my mind.

Alex, forgive my ignorance, but what is Windows Commander?

For me it is not ones specific program but a group of three. Dreamweaver, Notepad (yes I like to hand write script), and Photoshop, on a daily basis. As for the mental relief Ray Dream Studio and Bryce.

Man, that's a toughie... I can't restrict it to one... Lets think. What program do I use the most, that I use both at work and at home? Well, I guess I have to say Internet Explorer... Or does that count?

Graphics:
- PSP7
Skin Apps:
- Hoverdesk

And just like Alexandrie: Windows Commander, just can't live without it!! Windows Explorer sucks!

snowman: I checked out the "Windows Commander" website...went to the SS and thought *yuk* ?
....is it skinable??

/me wonders why anyone would want Windows Commander???

I must admit Trans, I thought the same as you. Believe it or not, I never use Explorer, so I don't think I will have any use for Commander. Though I can see why people WOULD use it.
/me opens Explorer and wonders what it does. Hmmmmmmmmmm.......

Powerdesk is just a tad better than exploder...

2X Explorer is pretty decent as well. It is also free.

Well Transi....
Does Exploder come with a buildin mp3 player???
Does Exploder come with a buildin ftp-program???
Can Exploder unpack most compressed files???
Can Exploder compress ANY files??? (.Zip/.RAR/etc.. etc...)
In Exploder, can you browse/add files/delete files/view files inside a compressed file without uncompressing it???
Can Exploder view the hex-code of any file???

I think THAT should be season enough to use it!!

err... small addition/correction to the last line:
... reason enough to use WinCommander!

I'm using XP and:

Does Exploder come with a buildin mp3 player???
Yes.
Does Exploder come with a buildin ftp-program???
Yes.
Can Exploder unpack most compressed files???
Zip files
Can Exploder compress ANY files??? (.Zip/.RAR/etc.. etc...)
No, just zip files, but since I'm not into warez, zip is all I come across.
In Exploder, can you browse/add files/delete files/view files inside a compressed file without uncompressing it???
Yes.
Can Exploder view the hex-code of any file???
Err... dunno. Not even sure what hex-code is...
I think THAT should be reason enough to use it!!
Not really.

But I'll give you that the built-in FTP client sucks. I use a program called Internet Neighbourhood to integrate FTP into the shell.

You guys might want to look at Powerdesk.....does all that stuff and a squillion things more.
It is usually the very first thing I install to a new OS install.....followed closely by LiteSTEP....

I _hate_ Swiss army knife programs with a thousand and one functions. I want my file manager to be lean and mean, not packed and bloated with things I have other programs for. Yuck!

Long live smallware!

I used Powerdesk for a while, but found it too slow to open up (between 5 to 10 seconds). Sorry Jafo.

And besides, I really like Windows Explorer under XP. It does everything I'd want it to do.. ok, maybe ONE thing I wish it could do: double pane. But I just open two Explorers, so it's no huge loss really.

It's only the Quickview plugins that slow it down.....but you don't 'need' them...it's just one of the better bits of it, that's all...
