Alexandrie - 10,000+

Regardless of what one thinks of XP looking skins, Alexandrie has broken her own record with yesterday's stats of 10,320 downloads in a single day of her skins and it may go higher than that today.

Alexandrie has been in the skinning community creating wonderful and original skins for the past 2 years or so. Her favorite style is to make skins that could be OS skins. It's been for that reason Stardock has always asked her to make the official included WB skins.

The MaxWB (the default skin) skin in 2.0 was by Alexandrie and XP Platinum (the default in the upcoming WB 3.0) is also by her.

Skins that feel like they are an OS skin are generally quite popular. While many have made XP skin knock offs which were quite popular, until recently with skins like XP Wood (not made by Alexandrie) and XP Jeans, XP Nature, etc. people haven't tried taking the XP design into new directions.

Clearly this has paid off with such amazing stats. To the point that we're maxed out on bandwidth (which reminds me, please feel free to visit DeviantART, it's a great site with great people and lots of skins).

I wanted to create a new thread congratulating her on here past, present and future contributions to our ever growing community.

In another thread I said that +8000 was going to be hard to beat.
I was wrong, I forgot that this would be not that hard for HER to do it.

Actually I don't think any skin author has ever seen those numbers.

I remember when Dangernuss (who even after nearly 3 years of skinning is still way up there in popularity per day) made WinAqua and it was getting something like 5000 downloads per day at skinz.org. That was incredible. Within a week or so it had over 20,000 downloads.

Dangeruss is like the Babe Ruth of skinning. Babe Ruth's old home run record was like 60 home runs but that wasn't what was so astounding, he had more home runs than the rest of the major leagues combined. Similarly, WinAqua had more donwloads than the rest of the top 10 combines at the time.

Alexandrie's close to doing that here but it's a lot tougher these days for lots of reasons (easier access to the popular skins for one thing nowadays).

Personally, I just love that copperish skin.

Brad, In fact, Russ had 14.213 dlls in the first day of WinAqua. I can say that, because I have a screenshot of that Skinz.org page saved on my HD untill today.
When he deleted the skin around 10 days after the skins had over 50.000 dlls.

Just for the sake of accuracy, Alexandrie was skinning before Russ. I think her first skin was a litestep theme but I remember her as Lufia and first saw her work on Windowblinds. She had already made several skins when I discovered WB and I remember Russ' first skins came months later.

But Russ has the all-time record with the Aqua clone, and Alexandrie has the Wincustomize record

I like her skins very much, but most of her skins are not released yet, I think. Look at these Windowsblinds screenshots with these fantastic OS skins, and you'll know what I mean.

Personally, my favourite skin at time is XP Platinum.
