509!!!

Today's the XP launch and not surprisingly...

The site has gone nuts. 509 people are currently on as I type this.

Personally, I think we should all go back to the good old days where it's a BBS on a phone modem and only 1 person can be on at a time. Why, I remember my BBS got sometimes THIRTY people on it in a single day.

i wasnt sure if you were sarcastic or not... hehe

There is presently 601 people on your swedish website, Lowen. But that gives me an idea, would it not be cool to see how many people are online, in real time? Can that be scripted onto the homepage without sucking too much resources? It could be neat to see.

Yep paxx its possible Check for example http://pixtudio.com At the bottom there's a marquee that says how many are in at the same time... Quite nice little feature I must say

paxx: Most ppl in sweden was probably in bed by then Presently there are 15.042 ppl online (noon) The counter you described is how it works at Lunarstorm. How did you think it worked?

Lowen, I know it's how it works there, but I was suggesting to place one here, if it's not too demanding on the server, because I know we have bandwidth and server issues at times.

The new Litestep.net has a function which shows how many are on-line, and even lists their names. I think it's a great idea.

In fact, now that I think about it, Skinbase has that function too, and so did LotsOfSkins.

It works by keeping track of who loaded a page in the last X minutes. Shouldn't be too difficult to make.

/me starts up the brain

They don't even have to make it, seems they already got it (how else can Froggy see how many are online).
