I guess I'll have more time for skinning now...dammit

Gravity: 1 Dangeruss: 0

Just got our of casualty (ER). Had a bit of a shunt while biking. Spectacular over the bars get-off while negotiating a 4 foot drop. Got a touch 'nose heavy' and did a superman over the handlebars and landed on my head and shoulders.

Tally: One broken collarbone. About a dozen scrapes and bruises. An excuse to buy a new helmet and about 8 weeks off bike.

Dammit. >

So, I've got this 'backpack' style brace that does precious little to relieve the pressure and pain. Big problem is that there's not much to do with this type of fracture other than try to support it and keep it as immobile as possible. Kinda like broken ribs. Not much to do, but hurts like hell.

I've found a comfortable position for right now. This will last about 10 minutes and then I'll have to look for another. I'll try wotking tomorrow and see how that goes. Good thing I've got a cushy desk job

So, much to my chagrin, I'll be faced with a lot more available time for other pursuits, skinning being one. It'll take a while before I feel much like moving a mouse much, this typing is easier than I thought, but still no picnic.

Thanks for reading my tale of woe. If you hear a sharp scream from the Southwestern US, that'll be me taking this T-shirt off

yikes!

I'm old enough that I don't get in those situations anymore... I remember the pain well enough I finally became a bit more 'careful'.

Good luck Russ, take lots of Vicodins... I hope your recovery is as swift and as painfree as possible...

Did I say "I can make jokes even when you are completly "out of order" huh?" ?
Sorry, my intention was to say "YOU can make jokes even when you are completly "out of order" huh?"
It seems that my typos works on a invert way, the most that I practice the worse I become. =/

'tog - I figured you meant as much

Sleeping last night went better than I expected. I'm sure the drugs helped some. I'm off them today while at work, so it's rather uncomfortable feeling those loose nubbins grinding around in there.

John or 'tog - my email is all fakked up here at work (can receive, but not reply or send) Would one of you tell Thibaud to check this thread out? Thanks.

(Think "Bold & Colorful" whilst your at it!) hehe

Sounds like a good one Russ. Time off the bike sucks though.
Mind you, if I recall correctly, you're in an area that allows for year round riding so you'll be back at in 2 months or less.

Sorry about your bike, Russ. That stinks. Though it goes back to what I try to explain to my wife:

Every time I excercise, my body hurts the next day. And as everyone knows, pain is the body's natural way of telling you not to do something. So obviously excercise is bad!

If you're taking requests, I'm a long time fan of your WinAqua skin. Now that I'm running XP, I've become attached to its Start bar. Do you have XP by any chance?

Russ...if you are stuck immobile for a long time due to the collar-bone....don't do what I did.....100 panadol in about a week for the pain...ended up in hospital with severe stomach cramps.....

My prob that time was I came off after a front wheel blow-out at about 40 mph [going downhill on bitumen]....and the ensuing tumble...after it broke, tore all the ligaments as well...took eventually 10 days just for the bone to knit...and 2 years before I could sleep on that side again.
I had pretty impressive gravel-rash, though....hip to knee....

Dangeruss - Hope you're feeling better soon. Take some "happy-fun" pills... just not too many and make some nice skins to make you forget about the pain.

Jafo - holy shiz! That sounds awful. I'll assume you meant 10 months rather than 10 days. I'm on Vicodin, and that works pretty well.

Brad - No XP here. I'm not too enthusiastic about it. 2000 pro works pretty doggone well for me. XP seems to be more about big type and big squishy buttons, so grandma can email pictures easier than any new computing benefits.
