CCleaner 3.13.1600 64 bit

Deletes system restore points!

WARNING!

From reading the forums I know this program is popular for cleaning the registry and temp files.  I ran it today to clean the registry (and did not use the tools option to delete system restore points) but when it was finished, all but my lastest restore point were missing.  The problem has also been reported by someone on Major Geeks.  Can't find the contact link on the actual CCleaner page.

I'm on my x32 and the version prior to .1600 .

I advise not to update to .1600 until this issue is investigated.

Thanks, gevansmd!

I use Windows 7 Pro x64 along with CCleaner 3.13.1600 64 bit. After I read your post I went and checked and under the Tools  and in System Restore and no Restore Points were listed. I then checked under Accessories under System Tools in System Restore and the menu and all of the Restore Points were there. It may be a glitch in the new version that does not display them but mine were there under the location I mentioned on the Start Menu. Did you check there? Just a suggestion to try and help resolve your issue. I haven't had any issues as of yet knock on wood, but every computer is different in setup and operation. Hope that this will help with the stress?

I looked under Windows System restore to find there was only one last restore point.  My intention was to perform the restore to last week after the registry clean failed to fix my problem.  You're correct, CCleaner shows none at all.

I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit so that may be why we have different results.

Another reason to switch to Revo Pro (in x32 and probably in x64) makes a full registry restore point and restore point before uninstalling.

I'm wondering if it displays only the Revo created restore points, while others might still exist? Perhaps this is due to different file extensions being applied by Revo and CCleaner  to their own backups and recognizing only those?

I'm not seeing this problem on my Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit pc.  Ccleaner 3.13.1600 is not deleting any restore points here.

I did create a registry copy, maybe I can restore to that if all that's deleted are the registry entries.

Except neither the program nor the help tell you how to use the backed up copy or where it resides.  :( :( :(

Ok, I found it in the Documents folder and it's a standard .reg file.  Applied it but my restore points are still missing.  Another person has posted ast Major Geeks that it's deleting his restore points.

gevansmd on CCleaner the Options tab at bottom do you have system restore points included? Options -> Include?  Try setting that to exclude the restore points.
