WinCustomize Christmas/Holiday Skinning Contest 2011

We are approaching the holiday season and this has always been a popular skinning holiday as decorating a desktop is almost as fun as decorating your house for Christmas.  We already have a great gallery full of holiday themed skins, but lets reinforce that with some fresh new designs.  This time we are just going for a free-for-all casual contest where any skin type is welcome as long as it’s available at WC for download.

The rules:

  • Contest runs from November 11th to Friday, December 16th, 2011. 
  • Any skin type accepted, as long as it’s one available on WinCustomize.
  • No limit on skin submissions, but remember quality over quantity. 
  • WC moderation is still in effect.
  • Judges are the WC admins/mods.  Skins will be judged on quality and creativity.
  • Skins/images must be original content. 
  • In skin description, please put “WC Holiday Contest 2011”.

Remember, this is a fun contest to create and share holiday skins.  We are looking for creative holiday ideas and how they are turned into a function skin or usable wallpaper.  As mentioned this is open to all skin types on WC, but of course I’d recommend popular categories like WindowBlinds, Wallpapers, CursorFX, DeskScapes, etc.

The prizes:

  • 1st place:
  • Runner-up: Object Desktop subscription, $10 iTunes gift card

  • 3rd place: WinCustomize subscription

I’m still working on getting some more prizes, but all skins will be featured on the front page of WinCustomize and it’s various social outlets which is great exposure for the artist. 

Can’t wait to see what’s submitted!

This reply isn't official but I think it's as good as you will get.

From what I understand there is a starting and ending date. Also seperate categories for each skin type and all are permitted. I would say if you are ready to upload then go ahead as the starting date is in effect. I see no advantage to wait till near the ending date because if things are uploaded early more people will have more time to use everyones graphics. When the winners are picked it will have no effect on when something was uploaded.

My thinking is this. There are already some very nice Christmas stuff available but much of it is older. I feel this contest was introduced to bring some new Christmas things available for all categories. I would never be making a Christmas WB if I didn't see this listed. Do I expect to win with some of the great things I expect to see, no. I do know some will use what I'm making and that is what I care about along with just being a part of the community is enough for me and my WB will brighten up some desktops. So upload my friend and I'm looking forward to seeing your docks and the rest of the stuff.

Can someone please help me; I'm trying to install Vampothika's "RockGod" but I'm doing something wrong. I know this is completely off subject for this discussion but I'm at wits end and need advice from someone familiar with this software. Thank you

I look forward towards seeing what will be released this year.

Any chance that any classic Christmas Windowblinds might be updated for Windows 7? If not, any chance that someone might update them or show me what needs to be fixed and help walk me throught it?

Two of my hands down favorites are Plastic Fantastic Christmas Edition by Vstyler and ChristmasTime by Moremegil and both will kind of somewhat work with Windows 7, but there are a number of issues on each which really hold back on regular use until they are fixed. Both have Start menu issues, and a few minor issues with the windows frames, etc.
