CubeDesktop and DeskScapes

Hi there all!

I recently downloaded the trial version of a program known as CubeDesktop (information here). It is a program that allows you to have 6 virtual desktops at once, and to switch between them in a cool cube environment... or something. Anyway, when I run this program, it unfortunately freezes any animated wallpaper I am using with DeskScapes. I was wondering if anyone else uses this software, or perhaps had any tips on some settings I could change, if any? I have tried fiddling with CubeDesktop's settings to no avail, unfortunately. Any help that you could provide would be... helpful!

Thanks again!

I think it would be best if you emailed [email protected] and start a support ticket. :sun:

Haha probably! I emailed CubeDesktop's support some time ago since it seems to be their software causing the problem, but haven't heard back from them yet. I guess Stardock's support staff would be a good option too! :)

By giving all the information to Stardock support at least they could test the compatibility of the two pieces of software, couldn't hurt.

I tried CubeDesktop on Win7/64. It was buggy as hell even with WindowBlinds,DX and CFX unloaded. I never tried running DS with it.  I'm using VirtuaWin  it's free, open source and I'm running a hybrid dream on it now as I type.  No' it's not a cube, but it works great. No conflict with any SD software that I've found.

@Philly0381: I went ahead and e-mailed Stardock too! Thanks for the advice :D

@Wizard1956: Thanks for the heads up! I will give that program a try and see if it works for me! Although I must admit the cube does look pretty cool :')

Thanks for you help guys! If anyone else has suggestions, please let me know!

@Wizard1956: I installed VirtuaWin, and was wondering if you used WindowBlinds with this software. Is it possible to use different skins on different desktops? I have been unable to do this so far.

Not that I've found but that would be a nice feature.

It sounds like it may be setting the wallpaper which will disable DeskScapes.

The other possibility is DeskScapes detects it as a fullscreen application and so automatically pauses.  There is a setting in DeskScapes to stop it pausing for maximized windows so it is worth trying this out.

Thanks for the suggestion! I tried enabling DeskScapes to run even when other windows were maximized, but that didn't work. I think CubeDesktop is trying to set the wallpaper. Now I just need to figure out how to stop it from doing that! :) Thanks for your help!
