The only aspect ratio I know of in PS7 is the fixed aspect ratio if you have either the rectangular or ellipse selection tool selected. On top where it says style the drop down box has three settings. Normal, fixed aspect ratio and fixed size. Without more info this is what I'm thinking you mean.

I need to have square pixels. I know there is an aspect ratio setting in CS 5  but that was only a trial copy.

Pixels are square by default.....................

EDIT: I think Doc has it. Sorry if I took your meaning wrong.

It certainly sounded good but I must have misread it. I looked in every menu I could find but I still can't see any way to set it for square pixels.

CS5 is Photoshop12....

Photoshop 7 or Ps7 is a much earlier version of CS.

If you need square pixels, can't you just use the pencil instead of the brush?

In my photoshop6, i also have the option of square brushes.  Karen, I think the pencil is still rounded, but I'm not positive.

Oh, you're right, Barb -- I guess what I meant was to use the pencil tool with a square brush, which is the only way I use the pencil tool, so I can get get the true hard edge.

Pencil tool in PS7 can be either one, square or round. I use the square.
