need help installing mods

Hey all,

I need help installing mods.  I have been playing sins since it came out and just never had the time to install mods.  I play the game multiple times a week and never tire of it.  I read the forum for the past few weeks trying to figure it out.  I know my way around the computer, if fact I just installed it on my new ASUS laptop (the 1T Gamer), and can't get any mods to load.

Here's what I have done:

Downloaded the requiem full release v2.7.0.  Extracted the file to a temp folder, then  sent it to: users-owner-appdata-local-Ironclad Games-Sins of a Solar Empire-Mods Entrenchment v1.051-my mods.  All the files appear as shown on many posts, however when I open the game and goto the mods area, it is not listed on the available mods.  This is where I am stuck.  I actually downloaded other mods and tried the same steps, and nothing.  I know I am probally doing something wrong, but I can't see it.  I was looking for a installer and actually tried one and still no go.

Help is needed.  My computer is the i7, 8gb, 1T, 64bit, using windows 7

Did you extract the .zip/.7z etc. file that you download? Mods are just supposed to be in a normal folder in the mod folder, so that could be it.

Also for Requiem you should get the 2.7 to 2.8 patch (latest version of Requiem Entrenchment) to ensure it works correctly with Entrenchment 1.051.

Do you have Trinity? Are you sure you are running Entrenchment exe? The Diplomacy/Trinity exe will look in the folder Mods Diplomacy 1.32 while the Entrenchment exe will look for mods in the above listed folder. Also My Mods is not a needed directory. The mods need to be individually in their own directory inside Mods Entrenchment v1.051.

Here's a handy how to you should read over and post back if you have more questions.

all files are extracted with the extracted files placed in the mod folder.  I did try without the "my mods" file first, several times, and read a post that recommended creating a my mods file.  I have trinity, and each game has a seperate directory with this mod only being placed in the entrenchment file.  I also confirmed the mod path in the options-mods on the game.

I will read the suggested how to and post back.

thanks

Ok,

Still stuck.  Zombies, I read the how to and used that process prior and no luck. Trying to find the 2.8 patch now.

Any more suggestions?  It acts as if the mods are not there.

When you start Sins of a Solar Empire the game version is listed in the lower right. What version of the game is showing and what is the full path to the mod folder including the mod's directory as well?

Well even if the mods don't work, if you have a folder in the correct mods folder it should show up from the mod list. What version of Sins do you have? If you're running a different version than the one the mod folder is for that would also cause it to not be found.

Also, if that number isn't 1.051, go to the mods tab again and hit the "Find mod path" button. It will tell you the folder the game is looking to find the mod in and will create the mod folder if it doesn't already exist.

OK, patch is installed.  Executed the install.bat.  Still not showing up in the mods.  The mods looks fun, any other suggestions?

sins version 1.191.  Entrenchment is 1.051, dip v1.32.  I'm not seeing it in the mods list, and I cannot find any other folders for entrenchment.  As I click thru the paths, it takes me right to the mods folder as shown in the "how to's"

Well that is odd, but as you have Trinity I would try to get the Diplomacy version of Requiem to work. It's far superior to the Entrenchment version, and it may just be the Entrenchment version that is giving you problems.

Please check the mod website for more indepth install instructions, but since its acting a bit weirdly for me I'll explain it briefly here.

1. Download Requiem version 3.4 for Diplomacy 1.31/1.32.

Diplomacy

2. Place it in your mod folder. To find it, start Trinity/Diplomacy and go to the main menu. Click the mods tab, then hit the "Find Mod Path" button.

3. Go to the location specified. Some folders maybe hidden.

4. Extract the mod to that location, so that its just a folder that says "Requiem Diplomacy"

5. Start the game again and go to the mods tab. You should see Requiem from the list of available mods. Enable it (the checksum should not be zero) and select "apply changes". After some loading the menu should change a bit and some Star Wars music should be playing.

Here's my mod path and explorer window... If it doesn't look similar to this you have something setup wrong.

ok all,

I got it figured out.  I have two identical paths.  As I "again" unhid files, I searched for identical files, and there was another file path I found thru a default folder called "default" that had a identical path from a second AppData folder( Users-Default-appdata-local-Ironclad Games-Sins of a Solar Empire-Mods Entrenchment v1.051).  I'm still trying to figure out how that happened, any way all I placed all the mods in these sins folders and they appeared.  Just begun the req mod now and it looks fun.

Thanks for all the help guys.  maybe we'll meet on a online battle.

Awesome.

Again, of the two I would recommend the Diplomacy version over the Entrenchment version, its a lot more polish and has better music, tech trees, more abilities etc. Now that you have that odd thing figured out it should be easy to install any more mods you want to try.
