Help with Animating Dock...

Currently I have created a lovely Diablo III style dock. It looks and works just as it should.

HOWEVER, today Blizzard released high-res animated GIFs that show the orbs swirling and what-not.

I edited the config to accept the "mana.gif" file, but it doesn't animate.

Is there any way for ObjectDock to animate my dock so that it can show these orbs swirling?

Thanks.

the .gif file will never work because the dockbackground can only be a static .png

you can just add an animated icon on the dock (an horizontal string of pngs)

any way I see that the lateral orbs are oversized respect the icons on the dock so you should modify the dock design

I made something similar with Underwater Dock + Underwater Animated and you can use it as example

Thanks for replying.

The dock is based off of a video-game that I love dearly, so the design is going to stay the way it is, I think.

But since the orbs have to be larger than the icons, I suppose I can't do it that way...

Still, your underwater dock was very interesting.

How exactly did you make the horizontal string of pngs? Could I make a png-animation with the entire dock, or it only is for just icons?

Do I just drag and drop them on my dock, right click animate and then I'm done? The icons also changed kind of slow. Any way I can speed it up?

well to run the animated icon on the dock you need the Animated shortcut docklet

to create the animated icon you need a graphic application in order to paste all the single pngs in only 1 horizontal string

personally I use the PhotoFiltre "special paste" feature so I add 1 frame at the time but there are other more automatic applications

and yes you can change the speed delay on setting the animated icon on the dock ;)
