New idea... Since apparently I'm absolutely inept.

How about somebody does it FOR me?

I have been pulling my hair out.

Between my GForge created map(s) breaking Distant Stars, and GForge itself suddenly deciding to implode, and my maps simply not doing what I want them to do WHEN/IF they ever work, I'm about ready to throw in the towel.

The bonus of this mod is that there are so very many different things you can do. And I have played maps that come WITH the game that are far more complex than those that I've constructed, yet they don't work, or they cause crashes, or they cause GForge to have an aneurysm.

So the question goes out to any communal GForge or TextEdit gurus.

Can you create a map with the following:

5 Players (1 human 4 computer)

human player has a CityHuge homeworld start with 2 Moons, Resilient Metals, and 2 Old Military Outposts. (I know the editor will do THIS at least...) If possible, editing the .entity file to incorporate up to 12 metal/crystal asteroids for mining and or the logistics and tactical slots of pre-stated bonuses in order to make way for something along the lines of galactic exchange bonuses which is supposed to be native to city planets.

In several nearby planetary or lagrange zones (4 or 5), there are upwards of 50 derelict battleships. Outside of those zones are an additional 20 huge city worlds with ridiculous native defense forces willing to kamikaze themselves in order to keep you at bay. Each world has an artifact.

Beyond those systems (because all mentioned are in a closed circuit with only one entrance via wormhole), are two Military planets, first a huge, and then a moon. The moon has an ancient planetary defense shields that works, as well as enhanced tactical slots, and a very small gravity well.

On the other side of the small military moon, is the wormhole leading towards the center of the galaxy (or whatever its called), where all the baddies may access. On the other side (via an additional phase lane) is a pirate base. So they're always just a skip and a jump away as a threat. Hell, even make them right there connected to the home system. That would make things interesting.

All of the other 4 computer players would have a minimum of 50 planets between themselves to do whatever they wish. Don't really care what they are, since I'd be playing this on omgwtf mode.

Apparently, Galaxy Forge hates me. So I can't do this. I was close, but it does nothing but crash now. I just wanted to go play, with one central planet to handle everything, for the most part, short of trade.

Can someone do it?
Or perhaps someone can help me figure out what broke? :<

I think Ive seen your other post about map issues, when you say crashes...what do you mean. Instant Defeat when you load the map? Or Sins itself crashes with a minidump? Or some other crash? Any Pictures of what your doing in GF would help along side more info in general on whats going on when you crash.

Also dont edit any .enities files unless your creating a new mod, this will mess up your manfiest for the mod if your running any.

I'd be glad to help you as I can, but I need more details onto your issues. Your map seems doable more or less. Dont know how fun it be, personaly but its not my map. Its will be hard IMHO to have a single planet run your entire empire. There are logstical limits per planet. If you want to create a super planet, your moving from using GF to making a mod. Not a big deal, just a heads up there.

Instant defeat is one, but I know the root cause, and removed that problem. (That's simply fixed by making new players before creating home planets--or insuring that there are phase lanes attached between worlds).

Instant crash on load is another thing.

Since I know that a planet can have multiple bonuses and the game still runs, I am simply not sure why my original map won't function. I have to wonder if there's a limit on phase lanes on a single world?

It sure seems like your pushing your luck with too many planets and such.... I'll have to look into it.

Side note. I opened up GForge again and started clicking madly. Got to 100 planets and no lag. Tried to zoom, lagged like crazy. Added in phase lanes and it goes "Bwuhhhh?"

Im gonna guess another issues is your milita selection. You may be adding something wrong.

Might I suggest you work on the map in stages? Start very basic with just the planets and a few phase lanes between them, and add things from there. Test the map between when you add more in. You might find your issues better.

I did get the map to work after I stripped out all of the groups and sub-templates on each of the planets, so the cause would probably be either the groups OR sub-templates( my guess is the groups).

Eh, you just need to slow down.  Get your planets out there and all of your phase lanes, double check your starting positions, run it in the game and check it out.

Once you've got that all working, go back and add in artifacts and bonuses.  You can have one artifact per planet, but you can have every single bonus on it as well.  You may also want to change the artifact level to 0 so random spawns don't appear and overwrite your settings.  Once you've got those things in, run it in the game again and check it out.

Then add in militias.  Do a few planets at a time and run it in game.  If you have problems at any point, you haven't really done very much since the last time you ran it so you should have a pretty good idea of where the problem is.

Like Carbon said.  Do it in stages.  At least until you become confident that you can do the whole thing without having to check it periodically.

I have a working map. Took five hours, but it works.

Finishing touches---

Pirate base, can I use multiple templates?

The AI--doesn't seem to want to expand. I have 8 bases and dominate the galaxy with culture flow before they seem to get to two or three worlds. They are not attacking neutrals to take them.

Pirate attacks--they are pitiful. They are not sending capitals.

pirates do NOT colonise, unless a mod has converted them to a playable race.

regarding multiple templates, I have not tried that, so do not know, I suggest trying on ONE planet only and let us know.

I don't mean the pirates expanding. I mean the other AI players... they aren't attacking neutral planets to take them. They completely ignore them and stay at the two starting worlds only.

I put in piratestarbase template, and there are no pirate ships around the planet.
