Bootskin does something it didn't used to even after reinstall
Okay.....
The problem started when I tried to make my own boot skin (for Windows XP SP3). I simply downloaded a user skin from the main site, found the files at C:\Program Files\Stardock\WinCustomize\BootSkin\skins, and replaced or edited them.
Well, so of course the first time didn't work-- I had saved the .bmp's using 256 colors. I had to start in safemode, and so I uninstalled Bootskin. Then, after restarting normally, I reinstalled BootSkin. But this is where something strange had happened: Whenever I start Bootskin from now on, it resets my monitor's entire resolution (so that everything's huge) and messes up the colors as well. Then, when I close Bootskin, everything goes back to normal.
I've tried uninstalling Bootskin and reinstalling; I've even tried deleting the Stardock folder that it leaves in the Program Files when I uninstall... But no, whenever I reinstall Bootskin and use the program, it does what I just described. What else could possibly be left from the program that does this??? It didn't do it before-- the program looked normal size, just like in the tutorials.
Anyways, since the rest of my computer's not affected, I don't mind too much. I'd really just like to get my boot screen I made working. Since then I've changed it to be valid according to everything I've read-- 16 colors, 4 bit bmps. Same color maps on both. Correct file names in the ini. I even changed the color map so that it starts with black, since I read that you must have the bar move on the first color of the color map (usually black). The bar is placed correctly (as I can see in the Bootskin preview).
But, when I select it in Bootskin, and restart my computer, it fails and I have to start in safemode.
So, possible problems? Just so you know, I never bothered zipping it up as a .bootskin file. I just put the files in a folder in the "skins" folder.
Hopefully you can download my bootscreen and associated files below, if you want to look. It's really awesome-- I can't believe what I did with 16 colors!! I'll put it up on the site if we can get it working.

(Also, if it matters, I downloaded the program from download.com. The Help>About says it's version 1.05a.)
