Convertxsi

some convert xsi questions i have

i noticed that when i make a model with the 64bit version of xsi that when i try to convert it with the convertxsi tool that it says that it has no vertices or anything and the model doesnt show up in game all the points work and the flair points show up but the model doesnt

so i was wondering

can the convertxsi tool that is out right now convert 64bit version files?

I use XSI 2010 64-bit. Make sure you're not selecting anything when exporting the file - XSI auto-exports only what you have selected.

Phong error  http://soase.weebly.com/hooking-up-textures.html

model not frozen or the UV would be hidden. Left click on the Transform header tab and choose freeze all transforms

Bounding radius is at -1.  :S  WTF. Try to view the bounding box but chances are you can't because it is less than 0.

No such mesh point "Engine". You want "Exhaust".  ;P

I get the same problem. I honestly have no idea what causes it (I'm using the 64-bit Softimage 2011). The really weird part is that at first it didn't work, then something changed (but I don't know what) and it started working, and then a while later it stopped working again. After spending ages messing around with it, I finally just gave up. Now I do my modelling in Softimage/XSI, then hardpoint in 3ds Max, and then use the script for Max to convert straight to .mesh.

Meshpoints (rootpoints or hardpoints) in Softimage|XSI are very easy. I can't see exporting to Max just for that but whatever works I guess. How do you do the tangents?

@Dante: If it is the 64 bit, Softimage|XSI 32bit is free and you can export from Softimage 2010 and import to XSI fairly easy.

Oops, I guess I didn't make that clear. I get the same problem as the OP, where the hardpoints will convert, but I get a radius of -1 and 0 vertices. Hardpointing in Softimage is definately easier than Max, but I can't find a way to save the hardpoints in SI and get them to carry over to Max. Since Max is the only way I can make meshes, I end up having to do the hardpoints with it.

I don't do tangents... 1. I don't know how:P 2. My texturing is terrible anyway.

[Tutorial WIP] Import Sins Models to XSI I show how to export Meshpoints using .fbx and .obj exports the UV, then merge. The video at the last reply I show how to connect the tangent map.

Tangents is a direct copy of the main UV and then the 2nd UV set is set to display the tangents which can be adjusted to suit.

Thanks for the info! That will definetly make things easier.

@Myfist i would use the 32bit version if my 64bit laptop would run the stupid thing.......also thank you for that lol that would explain why none of my engine effects where showing up!! :)
