New OD backgrounds

Unable to access

I have downloaded several alternative dock backgrouns but none of them are available when I choose a new background.  They are simply not on the list of availbale choices.  After unzipping the dock background files, I moved the folders to c:\program files\stardock\objectdock\backgrounds\nontabbed, although I tried the other 2 folders under backgrounds as well.  What could be wrong?

Try just putting them in the Backgrounds folder. Don't worry about the sub folders. If you have OD program open close it and open it after you put the files in the background folder.

You can't put a zip file in there just the folder with the dock parts in it. After you unzip the file most people will put the graphics and ini file in a folder. If not make a folder for the parts. You can always get one from my site as I package everything in a folder inside the zip. But like I said most do.

I tried your suggestion of just putting the UNZIPPED folder in the backgrounds folder, exited and restarted OD+ 2 and same thing, the new background doesn't appear.

Hmmm, not sure why you are having problems gevansmd.  I run Windows 7 and here is what I do and it works everytime.

1. Click the download button on the skins download page, you should get a window that gives you options, I always select 'Save As', it goes to a download folder.

2. Once download is complete go to the folder where you saved it.

3. Right click on the file you just saved and select 'Extract To'

4. Now go to the ObjectDock Folder, find Backgrounds and select or click it as being where you want to extract the file, besure to use folder names.

That should work unless I missed something.  :sun:

Duh!  I figured it out.  I have two OD folders.  The correct one is under object desktop, rather than just stardock in program files.  Thanks for your help, it's working now!

Oh and be prepared, it would seem we all have those 'Duh!' moments around from time to time.  :-"
