Beginner problems

Ive just bought the game two days ago and i love it. I saw that their are mods for the game so i can play with more goodies. But i have problems getting the mods to work. The main mod in trying to use is the "7 deadly sins" one thats gives you th basics mods like star wars. But i keep hearing you need patch v1.05. Ive found it and installed it but when i launch the game it just frezzes. So any help would be great. Im also trying to figure out how to use mods in generla. So any help there is needed as well. if u need more specfics let me know.

Thanks

Welcome to Sins of a Solar Empire. As a modder of this game I can tell you there are lots of excellent mods to choose from.

So to your problems. First, 7 Deadly Sins 2.5 is in Beta for Entrenchment 1.051. You will need to register on their site (they have a free and pay download option). Many people pick up 7 Deadly Sins 2.1 which is for Sins of a Solar Empire (1.05) which is really old and slightly confusing as the version numbers are similar so don't feel bad. Just follow the link above and make sure you activate it with the latest Entrenchment version.

Now in general get rid of whatever patching you did. You want your game up to the following versions.

Sins of a Solar Empire: v1.191

Entrenchment: v1.051

Diplomacy: 1.21

* The easiest way to do this is open Impulse and HOLD [ctrl]+[shift] and right click on Sins of a Solar Empire then choose "Verify Installation" (This option is hidden unless you hold [ctrl]+[shift] when right clicking). Do this again for Entrenchment and Diplomacy. This will remove any patching you may have done.

Thanks for the welcome, ive played the demo before i bought it and i was hooked, i hated almost winning and the time running out. So let me see if i understand, the 7 Deadly Sins has a new version out which is better and easier to use. So I need to register on Impulse my game and they have the beta version of it.

But hes the things i dont have any expenasion pack, my game is the bare bones classic, so with the Entrenchment version work with mine. Also how do u go abut getting mine up to date, does registering it update my game.

As for getting rid of any patch work, do reinstalling it do that?

Thanks for your time

Impulse does not have it. They have their own website.

No, though it is highly suggested you get the expansions. Very few mods work with just the original.

No you need to get Impulse  ( www.impulsedriven.com ) download it and then go to the update center. You will also be able to buy the expansions here. Impulse is similar to Steam except without the footprint. You can remove it when you are done updating.

Well getting rid of the file itself afterwards will help.

What Ryat said... Impulse is for getting the latest patches for the Game. Mods are downloaded through their chosen websites.

There are only a few mods for Vanilla Sins of a Solar Empire. Check out Maelstrom for an example.

You'll atleast need to pony up $10 for Entrenchment to play 7 Deadly Sins. There is NO way for you to play the original 7 Deadly Sins.

There are a few other mods for Entrenchment too so it's worth that cost. If you want access to all mods you'll need to add Diplomacy as well.

Yes, the lag when opening a new mod is the game loading the mod itself.
