Is there any way to deny a dock to auto hide, like a quick launch dock?

For example, the quick launch dock is never hidden but shows on top when I move my mouse cursor on the edge and it would be fine with a quick launch dock but the quick launch docks don't have the grow effect so my second question, in the case that first one can't be solved, is: Is it possible to create the "grow" effect for the quick launch docks? The goal is that only one shortcut zooms a little but doesn't affect the other docklets, so the regular dock grow effect instead of the quick launch dock zoom effect.
