Impact of Slot Count on AI Attack threshold?

Does anyone know if the total slot count of the players fleet has an impact on the AI's decision to attack a system or not? I have noticed that when I have a high slot count present the AI attacks much more rarely, whereas when the slot count is low it attacks often.

The more slot count taken up, the bigger the fleet it, at least that is how the AI sees it, if I understand it right.

The AI prefers to have an equal or higher fleet size to yours before attacking. So if you keep a small fleet the AI finds it easier to reach that level and attack you.

Yes AI always (without scouting) knows what size of fleet and/or defenses are present in gravity well and it wont attack unless he has sufficient firepower to win.

Don't know the level threshold for above to apply. I play cruel or higher.

Only problem is AIs are stupid and with scripts at the moment he rarely succeed.
