IMPULSE UNINSTALL HELL

I've been using computers for a long long time.  I build them.  I have NEVER had a problem with uninstalling anything this complicated EVER.  In fact I feel like a complete dumb ass having to take time out of my day to see if there's anyone who know how to get rid of this retarded software.

XP Home, SP3, ALL UPDATES.  I've UNINSTALLED EVERYTHING related to Stardock, including DOWNLOADS because I've spent HOURS attempting to get rid of this crap. I've de-fragged BOTH the hard drive and the registry.  I've done EXTENSIVE CLEANING.

Notwithstanding what I've done, now there's TWO copies of Impulse attempting to load on start up, AND THERE'S NO STARDOCK ANYTHING in the Start folder.  I've attempted removal from Add/Remove.  I'm informed it's been UNINSTALLED, I reboot, guess what, the thing attempts to install again.   AGAIN, I'VE UNINSTALLED EVERYTHING I COULD FIND RELATED TO STARDOCK.  Where does this moronic company put all it's stuff so the user can find and get rid of it if they don't like it or it makes spend their ENTIRE EASTER TRYING TO FIX THE PROBLEM?

I think you'll get help more quickly by using more polite language...

This is a Stardock site, so I doubt you're garnering much by way of people wanting to help you.

Try editing your OP... honey/vinegar...? ;)

Hey Greg, if the shoe fits ok?!  Did you design IMPULSE?   The insults weren't directed at you.   Apparently you don't spend much time maintaining or repairing Windows.  Notwithstanding, you don't know me so maybe if you're interested in telling someone what to do try your own family.  Excuse me for being upset that UNINSTALL doesn't mean the same thing when it comes to IMPULSE as it does to other software of a much more complex variety.

Look, I AM NOT DIRECTING MY IRE AT ANYONE WHO POSTS HERE, OK?  IF you didn't create IMPULSE then what's the problem?  If you don't OWN STARDOCK INC then what's the problem?  Why are people upset about SOFTWARE that doesn't APPEAR to work properly?  I didn't insult anyone's religion, or gender, or race, or family, political party.   IT'S A SOFTWARE TECH ISSUE NOT RADIO ACTIVE PARTICLES RAINING DOWN ON YOUR KIDS AND DOG!

The question was:  IS THERE ANYONE WHO KNOWS HOW TO UNINSTALL THIS APP? How did that question offend ANYONE?

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE ALL THE PIECES ARE THAT LOADS WHEN THIS APP IS INSTALLED?

And who's responsible for providing NEW POSTERS with the scripts of what's acceptable comments and critique so they don't have to deal with idiots like Greg who doesn't understand I don't even know him let alone set out to offend him?

Again, I'm UPSET, not with ANYONE WHO POSTS HERE, ok kids?

For official Stardock support you need to email [email protected]

The forums are a place where the community tries to help where it can.  This being the Easter Holiday weekend Stardock support staff won't be back untill Tuesday.

It would seem that you have tried everything that might be suggested.  One question though, after all of the uninstalling, defraging and cleaning did you reboot the computer?  I know you probably did that but you didn't mention it.

OK, you are a member since today. I fail to see how you've had time to create an account

install much of anything   ( I've UNINSTALLED EVERYTHING related to Stardock, including DOWNLOADS)

and then apparently you changed your nickname, after trying impulse and who knows what other Stardock products.

How have you had time to actually do anything with anything?

I'll try to be optimistic here.

Have you checked MSconfig to see if the startup entry "Impulse Now" is checked?

And I had problems with Impulse.  It crashed everytime I loaded it, so I had to uninstall it.  It uninstalled just fine for me.  I don't know what your deal is.

You could download and install Stardock software without installing Impulse.  If Impulse is the main problem, why do you have to uninstall everything related to Stardock?  Impulse is just one component of Stardock.

Or you could try a 3rd Party Uninstaller utility if Windows Add/Remove Programs doesn't work properly.

Because you should know that Windows's Uninstaller doesn't get rid of everything.  Empty registry keys, files, and folders may still be there after uninstalling, depending on the software.

You know you can download stuff on this site without being a member first.  I used to do that a long time ago.

Maybe "ImpulseSucksAss" was an annonymous user in the past before registering with the site.  (Correct me if i'm wrong).  So yeah.

ImpulseSucksAss, nothing within Impulse prevents its uninstall other than perhaps a bad install in the first place.

Extensive 'defragging' of either the harddrive OR the registry will do exactly nothing towards resolving your issue.

Often, with a bad install of software the solution to its removal is to actually reinstall, typically from a new, verified downloaded executable, then uninstall.

Currently Stardock Support is on Easter break but will be returning in a day or so. [I'm on the wrong side of the planet/time zone].

Email [email protected] and your issue will be assisted on their return.

Other than that, it really is more sensible to seek problem-resolution POLITELY as being recalcitrant serves no purpose other than to invite hostility from others....;)

I saw similar problems when Windows installler became corrupted - I have everything backed up, so I just formated C: and did clean OS install.
