why do you need impulse?

Hello I have a question.

Why do I need to install some random stupid tool to download updates for SINS? Why not just download the updates from IN the game, rather than forcing people to install stuff that I don't want on my PC?

I don't want to spend my time installing crap I don't want or need on my PC to play a game I paid for.

Stop trying to compete with steam and give me my updates! Sorry for the rant, I just don't understand the need for impulse!

You don't need to run Impulse to play the game, only when you want to patch it. It's very benign. In exchange for having Impulse as the form of DRM, you don't need to keep the DVD in the drive or suffer from nasty forms of DRM such as Starforce or Securom or install limits.
