Sins of a Solar Empire

Looking for a little help. Just installed original Sins from a disc, registered with Stardock and installed updates from Impulse. No curser!, it's there, if you move the mouse quickly it appears otherwise you cannot see it. Drivers are all freshly updated, Windows 7, i7-930, dual 6850's. Absolute fan of Galc Civ series, was looking forward to giving this one a go. Any thoughts appreciated.
