Transparent icons?

Is ther a way to make the icons tranparent (like behind the writting) so that the desktop background color doesn't show up, only the wall paper does??

WindowFX is a nice little program that will take care of that for you.

Obtain and install the Disappear utility (4 kb) ( ftp://ftp.creativelement.com/pub/win95ann/disappr.zip ). You'll need VB40032.DLL (381 kb) ( ftp://ftp.creativelement.com/pub/win95ann/vb4rt.zip ) if you don't already have it.

WindowsFX can make the icon semi-transparent and the text fully transparent. It can also remove the icon description so only the name of the icon shows. Great stuff!

my computer - view system information on the left panel
advanced tab
performance - settings
scroll down and select 'use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop'
click 'apply'
