Wow.... sorry this happened to you, Greg! 
With my new job, I back things up in Open Office (free) and in WindowsLive Writer. Don't know if you need more than "Copy - Paste" but when I see a reply taking a long time to post, I've learned immediate "copy - paste" saves feeling bad after the "Boom!".
BTW, there's a maintenance scheduled around 9 a.m. today.... watch out!
