That was the commerical rocket that has a contract to resupply the space station, right?
One of the private sector entries for a reusable orbital vehicle.
Great shot... impressive thing, a launch.
The best launch I remember was watching Apollo 11 lift off for the moon. Now that was a launch. The one comment that stuck in my mind was when one of the launch controllers mentioned the amount of thrust those engines generated. If I'm not mistaken it was on the order of one million pounds of thrust. A helluva push.
Sure is. I'd love to see one in person.
I lived in Miami when the Challenger disaster occurred. Didn't see the launch, but I remember everyone driving with headlights on. Very sad and sobering day.
Serves to remind us we live in the presence of genuine heroes who deliberately go in harm's way to push the envelope and sever the surly bonds that bind us to Earth.
G-d Bless and Keep them all safe from harm.
So say we all.
Amen to that!
