virus found in desktop gadgets

i recently installed the desktop gadgets application from stardocks object desktop and upon completion Kaspersky  went crazy and kept popping up all these warning messages about Trojan-Dropper.Win32.Agent.dhqb inside all the silica components included in the program...just posting this here so others know, thankfully kaspersky deleted them all immediately...

Just off hand I would say that you got a 'False Positive' on the gadgets from Kaspersky.  Stardock does a good job of not letting items get uploaded that are infected. 

If a Stardock rep doesn't reply here you should send an email to [email protected] so they can get with Kaspersky and get it corrected. :sun:

I agree with Philly.  The silica components are property of Stardock and contain no viruses.  Your security software Kaspersky is generating "False Positive" warnings.

Totally agree with both philly and BigDogBigFeet. After countless scans over the last six months no infection has ever been found anywhere on my laptop. AVG does a 'full' system scan once a day. That includes 'all' my skins, Dx or otherwise. Do as they suggest. Get with Kapersky to fix the problem.

I agree with the other posters. I've had DesktopX installed for years; Silica comes with it. It's been scanned hundreds of times by AVG and Norton, and nothing was found. Norton gets scared by some DesktopX gadgets once in awhile by their behaviour, but I wouldn't worry at all. For a skinner to stick malware in their products would be a disaster for them; they would be found out immediately.

No worries PDJ ... your secrets are still snug-as-a-bug-in-a-rug full of little tiny widgets and not so tiny gadgets all waiting for the right moment to take over the world. Just don't tell RnD. He doesn't like his creations running amok without him.
