IMPULSE WON'T WORK. AT ALL.

Okay, I was looking to change my theme in Windows a while ago, when I discovered Windowblinds, so I downloaded the demo, (WHICH WORKED FINE) and then bought it when the trial finished. Now I saw I'd have to use Impulse, and I don't usually mind things like this. So I buy it and all that, and then download the installer, when after its finished installing I get an error message saying Impulse has encountered a problem. I then shrug it off and try loading the program. Same thing.

After this, I looked on the forums, and a few people had a similar problem, but never the same. I tried downloading countless fixes, installers and whatnots, but nothing worked, so I went to support. They just told me I should download .NET or reinstall, but nothing worked. I was also told to find an error log which is not in my Impulse folder, or anywhere for that matter. After a while, they just told me it was a problem with Microsoft and pretty much told me there was nothing that could be done. So I forgot about it, but then I remember, I payed money for the program, and I want it, so then I get angry and basically post this.

I am literally begging for help, no one else has the same problem and its aggrivating me so much, also, it won't let me send an error report either, and to be more specific, Impulse doesn't start at ALL.

Help would be very appreciated.

Looking at the specifics of your ticket, what's causing the problem is that something fundamental in your Windows installation is not working correctly, and generally the only way to rectify the situation would be to reinstall Windows.  There's not a whole lot Stardock can do for you in that case, because it's not our software that needs fixing.  Since it's Windows that isn't working, we usually direct you to Microsoft for assistance.  I am sorry for all the trouble you're having, but there's really nothing more we can do at this point.

I didn't see you say you uninstalled the trial copy (use CCleaner or Revo to zap out the registry values. Both are free with Revo just zap the bold print values) before downloading and installing your subscribed copy.

I know this sounds stupid but I think that's the problem, judging from your narrative....without seeing all the emails, etc.

*whoops....thanks for answering, Rosco.

BTW, did you have anything like MSStyles (which "patches" system files) on your machine before Windowblinds.

One thing you can do (if the Windows installation is altered) is to go to Command Prompt and type in sfc/ scannow

This might fix your altered files/missing files.

I can't download the paid copy of Windowblinds because Impulse won't start, also, I don't think there's really anyway I could reinstall Windows at the current moment, is there anyway I could download a standalone installer?

First thing you do is run an elevated command prompt:  sfc /scannow

Then come back to address .net if that needs attention.
