Working great! You have fixed the two issues, disappearing windows and hibernate, that kept it disabled on my laptop. I especially like the random animations.

Great work. One issue:

Win Ultimate 7 x64. Add Rightclick  menu causes the rightclickmmenu of the desktop to open very very very slow. As in 20/30 seconds later.

When i disable the rightclick and loggoff/login it comes up normally. Enble and it goes slow again

We had a report of slow right click on the desktop which apparently was tracked down to some other app other than WindowFX.  Are you sure you did not install something else recently?  Intel video drivers used to cause very slow desktop right clicks for example.

If you have an nVidia card with the 260.xx drivers, make sure you have  NvXDSync.exe running in taskmanager. If it isn't it will take over 20 seconds for the r-click menu to appear.

k1  That did the trick. One issue, if you rightclick on the border  and the menu appears, not choosing an option causes the Windowblinds skin to minimize the window to topborder alone.

Just installed the beta.

Really nice !!

Time to go back playing with it :)

Update. Weirdness with rightclick/nvidia CPL.

If rightclick enabled all goes well till you reboot. After reboot rightclick desktop menu comes very slowly and the NVIDIA cpl link has disappeared.

Disabling and rebooting the desktop rclick comes up normal but without the Nvidia cpl link. A reinstallation of the driver package is necessary to get the cpl back. Nvidia drivers 260.xx

I had trouble with the new installer that nVidia went to. Specifically, it failed to install PhysX. I had to reinstall everything using the new custom option which allows a clean install by removing all old drivers first. I've had no trouble after that with services or processes failing to start on reboot. You may need to start over as well.

You don't want to know how many times i've seen the new instraller logo. I'm at Version 261.00 now. That actually works very good but i never install PhysX nor 3D. I don't game.

The rclick issue remains however. As soon as you enable it the Nvidia CPL link disappears and the link on the main Control Panel becomes inactive.

A feature request.  Clicking on the desktop makes it active and removes the overlay.

Use case: I want to select an icon from the desktop and drag it to the active window . . but because of the overlay I cannot see the correct icon.

I do have one issue with Inactive Windows on the RC of Windows FX 4 - Sticky Notes running and active causes the desktop to lose focus- even though technicially, it "sits" on the desktop, and is a desktop app. I guess . Can this be fixed? This appears to be the only gadget that has this issue. Working great otherwise  :)

An add-on to my last comment - would love to see a feature where you can check a box to Never have the desktop itself dim  and also perhaps a separate slide that controls the dimming for the desktop. (I am encountering other issues when working with the desktop and folders, dragging/droppping - I believe this was mentioned before)

I am going to make the same request Diamond12a made. Dimming inactive applications is really a good idea but dimming the desktop makes all the "on desktop" apps likes stickies, gadgets unusable.

Unfortunately it is unlikely we will be changing how the window dimming feature works as excluding windows from it would produce poor results with any unusually shaped windows as well as increasing the memory usage by a significant amount.

Having said that we may be able to detect apps stuck to the desktop so when they have focus they do not make the rest of the desktop dim.  But if a window above them is active they will be dimmed along with the rest of the desktop as they are below the active window.
