When you purchase stand alone version you will receive free updates until the next version.
So any 7.x updates for free, when 8.0 released you would need to purchase, at a reduced price, an upgrade for it.
You can use whatever version you're entitled to [Cavan's post] for as long as you like. Not quite sure which you were asking, don't want you to miss the sale wondering.
