Mad Scientist V2.5. "string not found"

"string not found" everywhere

Well the title says it all. Whenever I enable the mod "Mad Scientist V2.5" for entrenchment I get "string not found" practically everywehere. My planets don't load... the people do though. And the tech tree is just a bunch of buttons that says "string not found" Its everywhere! In the pause menu, loading screen, in game, main menu. I have the distant stars mod. But before I enabled Mad scientist I disabled it but still no go.

First off, wht version of Mad S is that. Most are out of date.

Check the mods String folder and see if it contains English.str. If there is another mod enabled above, that english.str will be used.

Sins Mods are very specific to version and expansion type. There are 3 different games in Trinity, each with there own folder for different updates.

 

  • Sins of a Solar Empire --> ...\Mods-vX.XX
  • Sins of a Solar Empire Entrenchment --> ...\Mods-Entrenchment vX.XX
  • Sins of a Solar Empire Diplomacy --> ...\Mods-Diplomacy vX.XX

 

vX.XX is the version of the selected expansion. There maybe multiple folders for different versions of each upgrade. Place the mod in the most current version folder only if the mod was made for that version of that expansion. Older version folders or the mods in them are no longer used by the game.

 

If you have upgraded the game and can no longer use your favourite mod you can try harpo's Mod Updater. This will not always work and you can check and post in the appropriate mod thread for it to be upgraded to the latest version.

I have entrenchment V1.051 with Mad Scientist V2.5. There is an English.str in the string folder. Is there something I should do with it?

Hmm, not sure if 2.5 is compatible and the only thing I can think of if it is, is the Apply Changes when enabling the mod.

Disable both or all mods click Apply Changes the enable MS and apply changes.

I disabled all of the other mods and only had MS enabled. Sadly it didn't work. A ton of the buttons only showed "string not found". I'm really looking for a mod that extends the tech trees by adding more tech and more ummm... " levels". I appretiate the help.

if you play a none englisch version, you might need to go the the SOASE main folder and move all none "english.str" files off. Then SOASE should switch to english and use english.str of mods

or name it to the file the main game uses. If your games root directory uses german.str, you will need to name the mods string file to german.str
