A few thoughts on sovereigns

 

I may be the only one, but at the moment I find sovereign creation to be a pretty bland, most of the bonuses available are mediocre and uninteresting, and I do not think the STR/DEX/CON/INT/WIS/CHA stats are at all thematic.

I know that the general opinion is that the spell system needs a lot of work, something which I agree, and I would like spell choices to tie in more to the sovereign you have created.

It would seem to me that a far better direction to go with Elemental would be to make characters primary stats -

AIR - Defense bonus and Air magic

EARTH - HP bonus and Earth magic

FIRE - Attack bonus and Fire magic

WATER - Diplomatic bonus and Water magic

The magic system could then be reworked so that the prerequisites for spells were also based on these stat levels, not the artificial combination of spell books and spell level currently being used.

This would allow extremely powerfull spells to be added with high stat prerequisites without imbalancing the game.

Finally I'm not sure what role Essence is supposed to have in the game right now, from what I understand originally it was incredibly important as you needed to sacrifice permanent essence to found an outpost. I actually kind of like that idea as it is far too easy now to spam pioneers
