Hi, lou!

You might want to read this LINK and LINK And watch this. I think it's a question of what Netbooks can run...

Since you're in Europe, I'd definitely be looking at Jolicloud.

XP was being used because of lower hardware demands. Jolicloud looks like a fantastic OS for Netbooks - just released this month in alpha, but I'd hold off buying until I could get it OEM.

Good to see you back! :)

Hey loukeeya, long time no see.  It's great to see you back on the boards, welcome back :sun:

Yeah it strikes me as odd as well, given that Win 7 lends itself to pretty well to notebooks and netbooks.  I've seen quite a few that have been advertised with XP, which I find rather curious since MS announced it would discontinue support in a year or two.

Hopefully it's not indicative of the devices' lifespan. :S

Price, maybe?

Win7 should run on just about anything that'll run XP well...;)

i bought a lenovo netbook a year or so ago. it came with xp but i had win 7 home premium on it before i left the store. a technet sub and win 7 setup files on a bootable usb drive come in handy on occasion. well, i installed win 7 and another gig of ram before i left the store. the ram wasn't really needed but i wanted it.

I have an Acer Netbook that came with Windows XP that I upgraded to 2GB of memory.  Installed Windows 7 Professional on it with no problems at all.

I have a compac that came with win7 home premium pre-installed. Still have XP on disk plus win7 pro (x64). Thinking about installing the pro version just so I can get XP virtual. From what I'm told only the professional and ultimate versions of win7 have it.

methinks these netbooks/notebooks should come with a big virtual hammer with which to beat them into submission     O:)

I recently took a 6 yr old laptop running XP reformated it loaded Win7 the laptop nearly doubled in speed performing normal tasks Excel,Word and even handled streaming internet data faster.

Some of the early netbooks had XP also do to lack of driver support on win7 but that has almost gone away!

Hope it helps! ;)
