"Conservative Republican" is an Oxymoron

I have used the term "short-sighted" numerous times in my observations of our illustrious republican and conservative administration. One of the most short-sighted and selfish agendas pushed through by them is their whacking away at the environment in general, using political pundits to edit scientific reports to further their agendas, and selling out our environment to a very self-serving and greedy industrial and corporate constituency. Not only will Americans suffer for these short-sighted decisions, so will the rest of the world, and all future generaltions. But, they don't care. Making money is really their only agenda, at all costs. I find it interesting and certainly vindicating to see that I am not alone in my perceptions. “Forty years ago the American people made a covenant with future generations to protect the few remaining remnants of the original wild America,” stated George Nickas, executive director of Wilderness Watch. “This Congress broke that promise. That they could do so with such impunity is a sad testament to the short-sighted greed and lack of integrity that are the hallmarks of the current leadership in Washington.”
Republicans like to think of themselves as conservatives, but when they actually choose to negate protections put in place by their own party, never mind what others think or do, they are not conservative. In fact, they are conserving nothing. They spend everything now, make money, and leave nothing for the future. If ever there was a misnomer, an oxymoron, I think it is calling a republican "conservative".
For the benefit of those unfamiliar with the term, oxymoron, a definition:
a combination of contradictory or incongruous words (as cruel kindness); broadly : something (as a concept) that is made up of contradictory or incongruous elements
