Icon (docklet) floats above dock

Hi! I'm using Windows Vista.  When I add new icons they aren't aligned with dozen or so original icons.  For example the clock docklet stays several inches above the other icons.

I am using the "glass bent" background so that means the icon bar is invisible. When I make it visible by changing it to, say, Standard Bar, I notice that all the original docklets that came with the package are below the Standard Bar.  I basically want everything to be single-tiered.
