Confused and a bit upset

Expansions

I bought Sins GotY from Best Buy yesterday, installed the game late last night only to find that there have been two expansions that were released. So I bought them both. After installing both expansions, I discovered that you can only play one expansion at a time. What's the point in buying "improvements" in the game if you can only play one expansion at a time? I was hoping that both would be incorporated into one client.

Another thing, which of the two expansions are most of you guys using?

Diplomacy adds stuff to Entrenchment. When you're playing Diplo, you still have all the Entrenchment stuff, like Starbases, mines, etc. You're not playing just one at a time, you're playing both.

Common misunderstanding; Diplomacy requires Entrenchment, and when you play Diplomacy you get all the material from the original game and both expansions.  To add to the confusion, there's also "Trinity", which is the boxed compilation (aside from the title, it's identical to Diplomacy).

Most people use Diplomacy online, since it has everything.

This is a great game, nothing to feel upset about.

GOTY = vanilla Sins

Entrenchment = vanilla Sins + Entrenchment stuff

Diplomacy = vanilla Sins + Entrenchment + Diplomacy stuff

So just play Diplomacy.  Or start with vanilla and then work your way up to Diplomacy; it might be better that way.  Note that the pirates in Diplomacy are supposed to be very tough, in which case you may have to turn them off.

Don't worry about it, you've got everything you need. Just play diplomacy and its basically the "Gold" version of the game. Everything from Entrenchment is there, so you are getting your full money's worth.
