TGA files in PSP 8.1

Is there some trick to saving a tga file in PSP8.1 that will show up in SkinStudio? I can and do use bmp's but I would like to be able to use both. Any help appreciated.

I cannot be absolutely certain about this but I think I remember hearing that PSP8 does not support saving .tga format at a high enough bit depth.

Perhaps someone else hear can confirm or deny this. I hope, in this instance I am wrong! I love PSP and would never bad mouth it intentionally.

PSP 8, even after the 8.10 update, still doesn't save TGA's properly. Jasc is aware of this, coz I've sent them the details with screenshots.

But there is a solution to the problem......... save as PNG, and import it into SkinStudio. SS will convert the PNG to TGA. Works perfectly.

ps.... In PSP 8.10 (I don't think this option is in 8, or 8.01) go to FIle > Preferences > File Format Preferences > PNG tab > "Load and save transparency from / to alpha channel"....
this setting may or may not have any effect on SkinStudio, but I know for a fact it will really give HoverDesk a fit if PNG's are saved with this enabled. ......... just be aware of this setting, if your import goes south.

simple using psp8 any image you want to use as tga. you will have to save to png first and skinstudio will convert them into the proper tga format by using the import option to ad an image

I actually got a TGA file to work properly, but using the same method produced another flop on a different image.
Jasc support is working on it, I received an email requesting more info on the subject.......... maybe this will all be worked out soon.
The PNG import method works fine, but I would really love to be able to skip all that, and save TGA's right, and proper.
