Mods don't show up?

Hi all,

I'm new to Sins, and I think it's great!  I downloaded the game, without either expansion, from Impulse.  I'm a Star Trek fan too, so I was eager to try the SoA 2 mod for the basic game, but am running into difficulties that I hope someone can help with.

I've found my mods folder and extracted the data from the .rar file into it, but when I start up the game and look in Options/Mods, nothing shows up.  Has anyone experienced this problem, or know what I might be doing wrong?
