Bush vs. Kerry on WinCustomize.com

We took a poll of WinCustomize.com users on whether they prefer Bush or Kerry to be President of the United States. Very interesting results and we thank the 1700 or so people who participated in this unscientific poll.

Of Americans who responded:

50.2% prefer Bush
49.8% prefer Kerry

But of those who are not American:
21% prefer Bush
79% prefer Kerry

Suffice to say, Americans are split on the issue but international users are pretty firm in their viewpoint.

I'm one of the non-Americans to vote for Kerry. I have to say, I don't care a huge amount about the war in Iraq. It doesn't significantly affect me. Nor am I one of the guys who votes on a party line (heck, I think members of *any* party have about an equal chance of sucking ).

My view is based more around Bush's fiscal policy. Enacting tax cuts when you have an increasing deficit is just not a sustainable thing to do, yet he insists that it is a great idea. Relatively speaking, the US does an awful lot now with not much (OK, so maybe the war does come into this, since this adds more to the "stuff governement does" side), and I worry that cutting back even further will affect truly essential services that I may need to rely on when I come over to the US to work.

Government takes money to do its job. Everyone complains about it, sure, but just pretending it doesn't is not a valid solution - it's like scheduling work you know will never get done in the time you've given for it, and everyone in (eg) the computer games industry knows how well that works . . . the schedule slips, and if things are not improved, the company goes bust. I don't want to go work in a country that's on the road to going bust, and I think that Bush's fiscal policy leads down that road.

That poll didn't last long!!

I guess this forum has the potential to turn into an ugly war.
I wasn't sure how to vote for this because I'm a Canadian citizen that lives in Florida. For this election I won't be able to cast my vote but hopefully I'll be a citizen within the next 4 years. Suffice it to say, I voted that I'm a non-American who would have voted for Bush. I like consistency and morality. Both of those seem to lack in the Kerry/Edwards ticket. I don't agree with everything that Bush has done but I think he's a far better president than Kerry. One thing to note. My father-in-law owns a small business. Most of America is run on small businesses. (Is Stardock considered a small business?). Electing Kerry will hurt the small businesses big time!
One more thing, let's be honest. If Kerry raises taxes on the upper class and large-scale business do we honestly think that the middle and lower classes will be unaffected? Seriously. Do we think that the upper class and large-scale business will simply be content to lose money? No way. They'll just up their prices and maintain their same bottom-dollar. So if the prices of something go up so that the same margin of profit is achieved, who pays? Everybody, INCLUDING the lower and middle class.
IMHO . . . of course.

I'm a paying wincustomize customer, DONT use this site for poletics.
I think that joeuser is the place for these types of polls.

I left another site that I liked very much because they sent an email to me saying that I should vote for their choice and why. This isn't anything that should be here at all! This is a site for skinning and related topics. What has politics have to do with how your computer looks?

Nannok: why?
It's a Poll. All you do is click on the dot. Nobody from WC is forcing you to vote either in the poll or in the General Election, or to post or read this thread.

If Froggy came on here and screamed for all American WC subscribers to vote either way, I'd drop my WC subscription that second. But he hasn't. It's a non-issue.

Lighten up guys.  The election is only a couple weeks away and it's interesting to see how people in customization feel about these things.

WinCustomize is a non-partisan site. We don't care who wins.

TheD2JBug This why:
This poll is ok,But I'm fear the day these pages are filled with propaganda for either candidate. So drop these kind of polls before that happens. Not everybody is as clear minded as you seems to be.
Theres enough of blog sites to use instead of this one for those..

Let me see - Bush versus Kerry? Frankly, I would prefer Adni versus SkinPlant.

Nannok of the north, its a poll, its in fun, and it doesnt matter. Please learn to be a bit more tolerant, this has zero impact on you, or even your visit to this site. Polls like this are infrequent, you dont have to comment on them, and you dont have to vote on them.

I agree with Thornz and Frogboy. It's a totally benign and (key word) optional poll. I see no reason why an interesting poll topic like this should be banned from wincustomize. If you have major issues with this election and feel you can't approach it in a civil manner, you can simply move passed it.

My personal feeling is that it's not bad to have such polls once in a while, but it's clearly possible to overdo it. The statistics were interesting - I think I've seen that sort of result before, but it's even more clear now. However, this is a skinning site, not a political discussion site, and since Stardock has one of those in abundance I'd have thought most of those posts (and certainly all the opinion ones) should be on there. Which indeed they are, so that's cool.

Mr. Beesley, this is a skinning site. Parroting what the Republicans have been blaring constantly for the past twenty years is needlessly tiresome and annoying. If you think being White, Christian and Republican entitle you to good morals and character, please review all the blood money ties that the Facists in the White House have with the various oil and Saudi organizations. If you think money justifies all the needless deaths, then you don't belong in this country. We have enough rednecks as it is. You and the rest of the Facists should go start another Nazi Germany preferably in the Antartic. IMHO, of course.

Why wasn't Nader in the poll?

Since people from both democrats and republicans
appearently find him to be way better than the
the two skulls & bones, it would have been intersting
to see how many people would vote for him.

Especially since the major media are doing their best
to ignore him, they don't even dare to let him on
the tv-"debates".

cygng I am offended by your remarks and IMHO they border on being racist. >

cygng You say:

Why is what you say any better? Does it have any more to do with skinning?

Didn't you notice that half of the Americans on that voted on this site voted one way, and half the other? All of the national polls have the election at a dead heat.

Does that mean that the half that doesn't agree with you should leave the country? If so, 90% of the tax base would be gone. How would the half that are left exist with only 10% of the tax base?

there is a difference between supporting bush and supporting bush's morals. i would say that, most likely, not all bush supporters think his ties to the bin laden family are morally sound. many are probably even unaware of them.

The remarkable thing about this and most other polls is they ignore the tird choice. In virtually every election the Libertarian Party is on all 50 state ballots just like the Republicans and Democrats. The difference? We don't steal $300 million in your taxes to advertise with.

You should take a look at www.lp.org and realize you DO hace a choice on November 2nd.

You may also find Ralph Nader to be to your taste.

He exposes both Bush and Kerry and their war machine
down the drain and that's why the old parties are scared witless of him. If Nader becomes the president the bogus war on terror will be over and the freedoms Ashcroft and cronies have trashed will be restored.

This of course is a "threat" to the people who want to keep the war machine going for their own gainings.

Read and learn as much as you can in order to stop the madness.

Much info about Nader, his history and mind here:
http://www.votenader.org/

And an interesting article here:

"the old parties are scared witless of him"

Yeah, They're scared of 1% of the vote!!!
"Yeah, They're scared of 1% of the vote!"

And you think that the big media tell the truth about that
when they don't even dare having Nader on the so called "debates"?

When the same big media has been exposed pandering the same lies that dragged the U.S. to war on Afghanistan and Iraq?

Kerry has been selected to take over the next 4 years(he's the "good cop" taking over after the "bad cop") and in may 2005 the draft will be started so they can cull 40.000 people of the american youth in order to keep the war machine running. Don't believe me? Check it out yourself.

To achieve that they have to make sure that enough people DON'T vote for Nader.

Both parties are trying to scare it's people that "a vote for Nader is a vote for the other party", because they know that Nader have a lot more people wanting him than Bush or Kerry, so they have to start playing unfair and try to keep Nader off the ballots by inventing their owns unwritten rules(like Bradbury did in Oregon).ยจ

This is why these polls keep popping up all over, always with just Kerry and Bush if the poll results can't be tampered with.

Polls are quite handy when it comes to stearing people into certain trains of thoughts. Do a little experiment and check the polls on bigger sites, try to figure out what they want people to think. After a while you'll get pretty good at understanding the mechanics of the quite powerful brainwashing techniqe.

So please, read up on what is really going on and don't buy what the big media tries to brainwash you into believing. They want you to stay ignorant because their owners gain from it.

To conclude, Support the Troops...Bring them Home!

Politics of some kind is every where. One group telling another group what it can and cannot do. The rich will always govern the rest. If you look at all the presidents this country has had and most, if not all have/are rich. Hell there are rules about who can even be this nations president. I just don't remember in which document it's written in. Politcians are spoiled rich kids whith nothing left to do so they go into politics. I'm a veteran and I do not agree with this war on terror. I have my own suspisions about "OUR GOVERNMENTS" involvement in 911 and other past things. Unfortunity our species and economy is based on WAR. It's been a part of every culture since, I don't know, the beginning of humans, so there will always be war. I dispise George W. Bush > a lot of this anger comes from his first act, stealing the election > . It's a sad day for americans when WE let something like fixing a presidental election stand. That eats at the very foundation of OUR consitution and our so called "FREEDOM". Sorry I get excited . I don't like any of the people running for president, never have I only vote to try to get some one out of office. I'm not rich so my only option is in the vote. Wake up America . Must stop or this could get ugly Everybody have a beautiful FREE day.

Wincustomize.com is not being used to push one side or the other of any political campaign.

The poll is just another interesting investigation of 'our' skinning microcosm, nothing more.

A 'hands-up' at your local pub would be of equal relevance/significance, and no more 'inappropriate' there, either.

It's equivalent to 'what's your favourite music group?'

1000 'yays' to Bucks Fizz will not influence any rational thinker to give up his/her Pink Floyd [whatever]...

BTW...I didn't vote as the fifth option....'Soylent Green all politicians' was not included....
