Getting paid to resarch? Is it possible?

I am new to modding, and havent really made anything useful, but the other day, i came across a rather interesting idea. I imediately logged on and checked the forums, and found nothing about it. (sorry if im wrong, and this has been thought of before.) But anyways, i was wondering if you could make a research topic that did some negative affect, such as lower income, or lessen sheilds, but the cost of it would be negative, so when you research it, you would gain money. And then you could have a nother research subject to un-do it, but it would cost more. It would kinda be like a loan system for sins.

In theroy, I guess it would be possible as the damage and shields and stuff is all maths based(ish) so you could just have a modifier of 75% its orgininal value (i.e. 10 would become 7.5 and so on). This is done with the Gravity Tolerance Research, so I'm guessing you could.

As for cost... not so sure I would think that you could, when you mod it just type in a negative number for costs but even so I couldn't really see the point in it, if you need rescources that badly just use the black market or get another planet.

Try using negative modifiers in research.

Thanks for the help. I'm going to try it asap.

As for usefulness, it would be only really for when there are two players left in a stalemate, and if you could instantly get like 10,000 credits, you could built a huge fleet to possibly capture a new planet and get the upper-hand, at which point, you would do reversal research.
