Build your own stand alone programs with DesktopX Pro

https://www.stardock.com/products/desktopx/proversions.asp

With the standard version of DesktopX you can build your own widgets and themes that others, who have DesktopX, can use.

But what about those people who don't have DesktopX installed? Relatives? Friends and family? Coworkers?

That's where DesktopX Pro comes into play.  DesktopX Pro allows you to export your creation as a stand-alone program. Just a single .EXE file that requires no DLLs, no installation.  If you've played Stardock's new game, The Political Machine, you've used a DesktopX Pro made object - the auto installer with it was generated with DesktopX Pro.

TURN these...

INTO these...

DesktopX Pro is only $129 for non-commercial use (i.e. you're not going to sell what you make).  And if you have Object Desktop, it's even less (less than $100).  And if you're a commercial developer, it's only $499.  Commercial developers can save weeks of time using DesktopX Pro to create their software.  For instance, one could create a custom web browser with DesktopX Pro in a few hours. For small businesses, think of what could be created with it - branded calendars, animated characters on the desktop, branded sticky notes, and more.

Because what you create is truly stand alone (it should be said again: there are no extra files you have to include, the single .EXE can be zipped up and sent to friends and family) it makes it very easy to create things to be used by others.

Uh, I hoped, that would be possible with DesktopX itself. I wanted to give the slideshow picture frame to my father with his vacation pictures.

If you have ODNT you can get DesktopX Pro for $99 and do that.  Given what you can do, that's cheap.

One example: BrowserBob, which ONLY can make web browsers is over $300.  DesktopX Pro can make custom web browsers and much more.

DesktopX Professional LX is $99 if you have ODNT ($129 otherwise). This is the version licensed for non-commercial use. This would be ideal for the slideshow picture frames for your dad. You can't use it for commercial purposes though, so you couldn't sell your picture frame EXE's.

DesktopX Professional is licensed for commercial use ($399 if you have OD, $499 on its own). With this license, you could sell your dad the picture frame you made. Or make other content for sale, provided you're not realistically going to have more than 100K users.

There's also a special-bid DesktopX Enterprise available for commercial use if you expect to have more than 100K users and/or need to integrate custom ActiveX controls (like Bob's Blazing Blast Furnace Monitor).

Well, $99 is too much for me just to make one little gift for my father. Would it be possible to install the free version of DesktopX on my fahters PC and then give him a widget version of the picture frame? (is there a free version of DesktopX?

You can make widgets with the enhanced version and your dad can use them on his PC if he has the shareware DesktopX installed, yes.

That could be a solution for me. I just have to get him somehow to download and install DesktopX (he lives some thousand miles away and knows nothing of Computers).
Thank you for the answers!
