ObjectDock & ObjectDock Plus 1.04 arrive!

ObjectDock & ObjectDock Plus 1.04 arrive!

http://www.objectdock.com

ObjectDock is freeware program that is a program launcher and taskbar that does it all with style!

Throw into the mix ObjectDock Plus, which is only $19.95, and you can really turbo-charge your Windows desktop.  It adds tabs, taskbar grouping, system tray (with each item fully skinnable), multiple docks, multiple monitor support, elegant edge hugging, and tons of other cool features!

What's new in 1.04?

ObjectDock Plus supports multiple docks on the desktop of different styles (tabbed and untabbed)

Tabbed docks can have the system tray in them. Hold down the left mouse button on a system tray item and you can change its image.

Taskbar items can be grouped together like the default Windows taskbar.

Docks can be moved to the edge and then docked where only the tabs show until the mouse goes over them. The size of tabs and docks are controlled from the easy to use configuration dialog.

Example of having multiple tabbed docks with just the tabs showing.

Docks can be set up so that they're always on top (such as where the tabs show up on top of windows) or behave like normal windows that show up on top when you move your mouse to a specific position.

The tabs and dock backgrounds are skinnable. Use the ones in there or download more made by others. Change the color to any color you choose.

Organize your work as you like.

ObjectDock Plus supports Stardock fly-out menus (you have to see it in action to appreciate how cool this is). A great way to zip through graphic files drives, etc.

Manage your various docks through the ObjectDock Plus system tray item. Very straight forward to create and modify

I am still getting the jerky behavior on mouse over of non-tabbed docks. Anyone else have this problem. Very annoying. Does not do this on earlier builds.

Like Plop2 I'm getting jerky movement with Mouseover on the latest freeware version. I've got ObjectDockPlus as well so I'll try that. This is the first time I've seen a problem with ObjectDock's Mouseover movement. Reverted to the previous version and all is well. My Freeware version was updated through Stardock Central. Wierd.

I have refreshed the builds to include the games-oriented fixes. Based on our testing, that should mean at least 3 things:

1. docks won't show over fullscreen games (though to be fair, this wasn't happening with every game)

2. mouse activation for docks will be disabled when a fullscreen game is running

3. background of the zoomer dock shouldn't come loose and wind up on top of the dock items after a resolution change like with games.

Update with Stardock Central, redownload the free version (same link) or use the form at https://www.stardock.com/support to be resent the plus download link.

Caveat downloader, updating to this one via SDC may overwrite your ini file defaults for your custom config. So you might want to make a copy of the .ini files in the ObjectDock directory (Plus version only).

Uhm, the latest OD Plus from sdc, there are items missing from the add entry on a normal dock. Isit supposed to be like that?

Plop2,

By chance are you running your docks' background with complete transparency? If so, then I belive that you and I are having a similar difficulty.

My 'work around' for this was to move the transparency slider just a touch to the right to inject the smallest amount of opacity. This simple thing corrected the irratic icon movement I was experiencing with a totally transparent dock.

Try it and let me know if that helps.

cheers,
ronjon

I just tried a completely transparent background with 1.04 beta and it's not giveing me any fits at the moment. I did in previous releases however. If it give me troubles again I'll be sure to post about it. Perhaps they fixed this issue for the 1.04 release! hmmmm.

Interesting bp_ronjon regarding the Transparency - I to run the dock completely transparent. I'll try what you suggested and post again. I'm still running the freeware version of the dock. I guess I'll try ObjectDockPlus 1.04 now that it's out of Beta.

Cheers

I had the same problem with updating via SDC - it thought I still had 1.02rcf, which was actually lower than it showed before the 1.04a update. This happened using the tray method and choosing Yes to update during the start of SDC. It corrected when I re-updated via SDC, but using the main UI to do it instead.

I too am having problems with a wildly flickering mouse over effect which did not happen before. Transparency slider slightly to the right does work a treat in curing this!

Ive just brought Objectdock Plus. Ive been using YzDock now from the beginning. Im abit disapointed with Odjectdock Plus to be honest.

1. Theres NO COLOURED Icon Labels & effects to the Labels "Yzdock Has them".
2. Theses NO Magnification To The Dock when you move the mouse cursor over each icon "Yzdock Has this effect".
3. The effect on the icons when you press them DOES not work at all. EG Bounce effect or Side to Side Effect".

Apart from that OdjectDock is Good. Lets just hope in the next patchs the author includes them extra features. Please.

I've been using ObjectDock since the beginning of it. I bought OD Plus during beta, now got the release version. To be honest, I don't like it. Too many bells and whistles for me. I prefer the simplicity of Object Dock.

No criticism of OD Plus - I just don't like it! I'm sticking with OD.

Citizen Sean Mcdoanald:

Are you talking about docks or Tabbed Docks?

From reading what you just wrote I think you're talking about tabbed docks, and from what I know tabbed docks are not supposed to be like normal zooming docks. If you want all the features you're talking about, remove any tabbed docks and create normal (Zooming) docks. And it wills the same or better that Y'zdock.

I miss an option to make maximized windows avoid ObjectDock, like they avoid the Windows Task Bar. Currently, to work around this problem, I have to resize the Task Bar to be the same size as ObjectDock, moving ObjectDock to the same position as the Task Bar, and the choosing to hide the Windows Taskbar.

BTW, hiding the Taskbar should be available on the dock's right-click menu, now buried deep inside the Dock Settings dialog.

You are a genius and I am talking Wylie Coyote Genius.

Sliding the transparency over just a hair did the trick. My dock is smooth as glass again

Thanks for the help

Sorry to get back to you Plop2 & bp_ronjon,

Yep moving the slider a fraction to the right has cured the problem

Well, I finally decided to buy the OD+

I love all the new funtionality, the multiple docs, systray, taskbar, Grouping, fly-outs (which is, as they say - a neat effect)

The only thing that keeping me from using this on a daily basis is:

1. I want a Pop-Up Menu on Folders that traverse short-cuts to other folders (like the Start Menu or My Desktop does with the > arrows).

For me , I have LOTS of specialized shortcuts that I group into folders. Right now I use TrueLaunchBar to control this , but would Love to use OD+ - if anyone knows how I can accomplish this using OD+ , please PM me

Thanks

Great utility! Worth the $

Problem with ObjectDock Plus 1.04 and Remote Desktop on WinXP SP2. I had OD+ running on the server and connected to the server using Remote Desktop. The Client never connected and the Server...not good...blue screen. Crash and burn. Any one noticing this problem?

Fly out menu is now slow to start. The beta versions were much faster. Any one else with this problem?

IRT Argyle - flyouts are fine for me.

Where do we go to report issues?
