Research

I am relatively new to the game and have a planet where the research amount in both the colonies and planet screen is showing as 96, however in the actual reseach screen it is showing as (total) 57. Am I just being stupid (I have check other games and started a new one to confirm that they both normally tally) or is there a reason for this?

I have both an economic and reseach capital on this planet and it seems that be benefit of the research capital is not being received when shown in the research screen - is it not possible to benefit from both on one planet?

Hope someone can help!

No, the one Cap has nothing to do with the other, they don't affect each other.

Actually, for me to help you would require you to exactly name the screens and buttons you press in order to get these numbers, then also your racial stats,a nd what "base" production you have on these planets.

What do you mean with "research screen"?

I'm not sure which screens are being mentioned, either.

You might also provide the % settings of your empire-wide sliders.

the research system confuses me a bit too.

For example, a new technology needs 92 points to be discovered as mentioned in the description. One of my planets produces over 50 points, research buildings increase this number, but still the technology takes about 7 turns to complete although it should be compületed in 2 turns ....

or are the 92 points only affected by the money I put in research?

but what are the research points of the planets for then?

You would have to set the research slider to 100% to use the full research capability.

As I posted in #2, the settings of the Empire-wide sliders are important.

As Moosetek13 noted in #4, the Research slider must be at 100% to get all the points.  However, I think the "Spending" slider must also be at 100%, as well.

That is, the "nameplate" ratiing is achieved only when the Empire spending is at 100% and 100% of that spending is going to Research.
